Plan income strategy. For most people, they start with salaries. But don’t forget that your job isn’t your only means of income. Starting a side business, a money-making hobby, or even making money online are viable options for extra income.
Many workers are just plain scared. Job security is fast becoming a myth. People with 20 years of service in big companies now get unemployment benefits. Government employees are being laid off. Others work two jobs just to make ends meet. And millions feel trapped in dead-end jobs they are afraid to leave.
Dress and act professionally while working. Some people find it helpful to dress in casual business attire during their working hours. This reinforces that just because you’re working from home doesn’t make you any less of a professional. Answer the phone with your name, or business name, and keep your children off the phone during business hours. Also, spend money investing in the tools you need to do your job right. A cell phone, fax machine or even a budget computer can help turn your home office into a true workspace.
Since most home businesses are, at a most basic level, service oriented, you will need to have interpersonal skills. Your interactions with your customers will make the difference in whether your business succeeds or not.
Possibly can because you will meet others with the same mindset. They may be able to introduce you to new ideas and ways of doing things. A home business can be somewhat scary and alienating so seek out others who are on the same journey as you.
How can that happen? We all know that nothing moves until something moves: You! There is no better way to get things done and working than to do them Yourself. Success in everything is a journey that will take you places you never thought of but always wished to go. The question is, are YOU ready to pack your bags and start your journey?
The next thing you’ll want to do, if you are just starting out, is to organize your learning. For example, one week you might spend time learning AdWords, and the next week you can focus on article marketing tactics and strategies. Another week you can learn list building and how to set up an autoresponder and market to a list etc. Doing this is almost like following an organized ‘classroom schedule’ and it will make your learning much more progressive, so you are able to act faster.
